246. How to Perform a Testicular Self-Exam
Early detection of testicular cancer can lead to a complete cure 90 to 95 percent of the time. Discuss doing a testicular self-exam with your doctor. The exam is best performed when the scrotum is relaxed, after a warm bath or shower. Here’s how it’s done.

•Stand in front of a mirror. Look for swelling on the skin of the scrotum.

•Examine each testicle, with both hands. Roll one testicle, then the other between the thumbs the fingers. If you feel any lumps, enlargement, or change in consistency, see your doctor. Also, report any sense of heaviness or pain.
