218. Get Rid of Yeast Infections
A common infection females get is a vaginal yeast infection. This occurs when the normal environment of the vagina is disrupted and small amounts of yeast begin to multiply. Symptoms include: itching, irritation, and redness around the vagina; a thick, white vaginal discharge that looks like cottage cheese; and burning and/or pain when you urinate or have sex.
To treat a yeast infection, use an over-the-counter medicine (vaginal cream or suppositories) as directed on the label. If symptoms persist, consult your physician.
You can help prevent yeast infections by taking these personal hygiene measures.
-
•Wear all cotton underwear.
-
•Change underwear and workout clothes immediately after exercising.
-

-
•Don’t use bath oils, bubble baths, or feminine hygiene sprays.
-
•Don’t sit around in a wet bathing suit.
-
•Dry the vaginal area thoroughly after you shower, bathe, or swim.
