If You Take the Pill, Don’t Smoke

Studies indicate that women over age 35 who smoke and take birth control pills or use the birth control patch, may increase their risk for a blood clot or stroke. So if you smoke, don’t take the Pill. And if you must take the Pill, don’t smoke.
