Working Well Blog is a project of the American Institute for Preventive Medicine, an award-winning developer and provider of wellness programs and publications, founded in 1983.

So who’s writing this stuff? Hang out for a minute and let us introduce ourselves.

Don Powell


Dr. Don R. Powell is the President and CEO of the American Institute for Preventive Medicine. Dr. Powell is a licensed psychologist who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He also taught in the University’s Psychology Department for eight years, where he was nominated for the “Distinguished Teaching Award” and presently serves as a guest lecturer.

Dr. Powell is considered to be one of the country’s foremost authorities on the design and implementation of community and corporate health management programs. He is the author of fourteen best-selling books, including Healthier at Home and A Year of Health Hints.

Brett Powell


Brett is a certified Wellness Program Coordinator.  He also has a Psychology degree from the University of Michigan and enjoys utilizing his background in Psychology to help organizations provide suitable wellness programs that ensure positive behavior change.

Amy Elliott

Amy is your host on the Working Well Blog and AIPM’s online content manager. A former magazine editor, Amy joined AIPM in 2009 and has since taken an avid interest in healthy eating, everyday fitness, communications and health care reform. She’s also chief of the @workingwellblog Twitter feed, so say hello, won’t you?
